"If you are barred from service because of illnesses like diabetes, which requires constant medication, why shouldn't you be barred for changing your gender which requires a constant supply of hormones and other medication? In a warzone that's not feasible"

They wanted to boot me simply because I had a pain in my left knee, one that never prevented me from passing my PT tests or kept me from service I might add.
None of you spoke up while the Obama administration was booting ... many good and seasoned members left and right for minimal reasons or forcing them out other ways simply because they wanted to get their hands on the funding, now that the prefix "trans" is involved it's an issue?
Reassignment surgery is not cheap and I believe that it should be paid for by the individual, not the DOD. Before and after reassignment surgery the individual requires a lot of monitoring, preparation and medications. This only complicates things for someone who might be getting deployed, this is a reason medical discharge exists btw. In the military we are also trained and taught to respect many foreign cultures as we are all over the globe. I hate to break it to you but many of those countries are against "trans" individuals and putting them in these environments would put them at great risk. chiffon fabric dresses for cocktail party

Having pointed out those facts I will say that I personally have no issue with homosexuality or people who are trans, whatever you do and/or like in life is your choice and I will respect that. I can also see how this "ban" (if that's what we're calling it) can be taken as discrimination but it is the military where they technically discriminate against a mile long list of people and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.
